Lily Gladstone, the actress currently generating Oscar buzz for her performance in Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon, will serve a dual role at the 2024 Spirit Awards, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. Gladstone will attend the Film Independent event as a nominee for the John Cassavetes Award, which considers films made for under $1 million (she’s a writer of The Unknown Country) — and as the honorary chair of the event, a title given each to “an individual who exemplifies outstanding artistic achievement and embodies Film Independent’s mission.”
“We’re thrilled to have Lily Gladstone joining us this year as our honorary chair,” Josh Welsh, Film Independent’s president, tells THR. “As a fiercely talented performer across many mediums, not to mention a multiple time Spirit Award nominee, we couldn’t think of a better person to lead the upcoming celebration of independent artists.”
