Spotify has announced its most-streamed artist, song and album of the year, and Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus and Bad Bunny have reason to celebrate.
TOP ARTIST
Thanks to Midnights and Taylor’s Version re-records of Speak Now and 1989, Swift is Spotify’s most-streamed artist of the year with 26.1 billion global streams. As an expression of her gratitude, Swift took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce the anticipated release of “You’re Losing Me (From The Vault)” — which is now available to stream.
Swift is followed by Bad Bunny, The Weeknd — who didn’t release a new album this year — Drake, Peso Pluma, Feid, Travis Scott, SZA, Karol G and Lana Del Rey.
Related Stories
While Morgan Wallen didn’t make the top global artists list, he came in third for most-streamed acts in the U.S. 21 Savage, Zach Bryan and Kanye West also made the Top 10.
TOP SONG
Cyrus’ “Flowers” blooms with 1.6 billion global streams and is Spotify’s most-streamed song of the year.
SZA’s “Kill Bill” cuts in next while Harry Styles’ “As It Was” — last year’s top song on Spotify — is third. Rounding out the Top 5 are BTS member Jung Kook and Latto’s “Seven,” and Eslabón Armado and Peso Pluma’s “Ella Baila Sola,” which became the first regional Mexican song to reach the Top 10 in the history of the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Unfortunately, the track was not submitted for awards at the 2024 Grammys.
In the U.S., Wallen tops the most-streamed songs list with “Last Night,” which spent 16 weeks at No. 1 on the Hot 100 chart. His other hit, “You Proof,” is eighth on the list.
TOP ALBUM
It is Bad Bunny’s world, and we are just living in it. The superstar’s 2022 album, Un Verano Sin Ti, is Spotify’s most-streamed album of 2023 with 4.5 billion global streams. It also achieved the feat last year.
Un Verano Sin Ti made history as the first Spanish-language album to earn a nomination for album of the year at the Grammys. It won Bad Bunny the Grammy for best música urbana album.
Another Latin act also impressed: Karol G’s Mañana Será Bonito, the first all-Spanish album by a female act to top the Billboard 200 albums chart, came in fifth. Swift’s Midnights ranked second, followed by SZA’s SOS and The Weeknd’s 2016 album, Starboy. There was also nostalgia for Swift’s 2019 album Lover, which came in seventh place.
Above that album in sixth place was Wallen’s One Thing At a Time, which topped the U.S. most-streamed albums list. The country star’s 2021 release, Dangerous: The Double Album, came in fifth on the U.S. list.
