How To Impress Your Guests With A Halloween Pool Party

Here in Australia, Halloween seems to grow in popularity more and more each year. Hire Or Buy A Fog Machine

Nothing says creepy quite like fog floating over the surface of the water and around the vicinity of the pool. This one item alone can have a huge impact on the scary factor especially when the sun starts to go down. With more advanced options you can even change the colour of the plumes of smoke to vibrant greens, reds, and blues. The green is great for creating a ghost-like feel in your pool area. If you plan on making Halloween parties a regular thing at your place every year, one of these may be worth the investment. If not, you can pick up a regular smoke machine online for relatively cheap. You just have to make sure you buy the fog liquid if it isn’t included.

Create A Spiders Nesting Ground

Is it actually Halloween if there are no spiderwebs? You can buy these in bulk and stretch them out across your landscaping, pool fence and any other structural additions you have in your pool area. They can make your otherwise appealing and welcoming pool look unkempt and eerie.

Prop some life-size skeletons in the pool

Most fake life-size skeletons are made from plastic which allows them to float well; however, you won’t get the shock factor from simply throwing them in the pool. When they are propped into life-like positions, they look quite disturbing – exactly what you want at a Halloween party! Some ideas include positioning them on pool floats, loungers or sitting on the edge of the pool. You can add accessories to your skeletons like sunglasses, swimmers, drinks, or you can just leave them as is. You can use as many or as few life-size skeletons as you like. You can usually get away with more if you have a big backyard or pool area. If it’s small, it’s best to stick to one or two.

Make The Pool Look Like A Blood Bath

Sounds horrific, doesn’t it? Well, luckily no actual blood has to be added to the pool to make it red. It can be done by using multi-coloured LED pool lighting. This is probably the easiest thing to set up of all your Halloween decorating, it’s one press of a button from your LED remote control or smart device. LED pool lighting is not only good for setting the tone for Halloween fun but it can be used for any type of entertaining you have at your home or any occasion for that matter. The colours are interchangeable and can be set to one colour, or you can choose from a colour show which changes the shades.

Glowing Jack-O-Lanterns

You can buy jack-o-lanterns in a variety of styles and various faces. You can place them directly into the pool as they float well, set them along the edge of the pool, or both. To get them to glow, place a glowstick in each. These not only look great, but they serve another

purpose by bringing light to the pool area. If you want to go with something more natural, you can place real pumpkins in your pool and the area surrounding it, only if they are intact, otherwise, they’ll sink. Save the carved pumpkins for the pool area.

Add Some Dead Corpses

It doesn’t get much more nightmarish than having a couple of dead corpses lying or hanging around. Rather than buying them, you can make them yourself by grabbing some old newspapers, scrunching them and placing them in a black garbage bag. Once you’ve got your bag reasonably full, you can start moulding it into a body shape. You may need to make 2 or 3 of these to make the head and shoulders, the torso, and the then legs. They can be all tied together using string. Use black tape to seal any gaps. To make it more realistic, you should try to make it as big as a human. Once complete, you can then place it in the pool or hang it up on some string over the pool.

Coffin Pool Float

Coffin pool floats are reasonably large, and filling them up with ice and drinks can save your guests the hassle of having to get in and out of the pool. The good thing about these are they can be easily deflated and packed away without taking up too much space. To make them that much spookier, you can add some dry ice to a suitable container in the centre and add some Halloween friendly décor to the ice, such as spiders and pumpkins.

Halloween playlist

No Halloween themed pool party is complete without a Halloween playlist. You can find pre-made playlists on the various music apps to save time, or you can make your own by compiling your favourite Halloween beats.

Illuminating Floating Hands

If you want to create a skin-crawling effect in your pool, you can’t go past this simple Halloween pool party hack. You’ll need some standard latex gloves and some glow sticks. Place a glow stick in each glove and blow them up slightly, you want them to maintain their hand shape. Once you’ve made the desired amount of illuminating floating hands, you can then place them in the pool. After dark, these create the illusion of glowing zombies trying to get up through the surface of the water.
